Kunst- und architekturhistorische Prozesse der Sakralraumtransformation im Raum Aachen und Leipzig

Der Forschungsansatz von TP 3 befasst sich mit der Untersuchung von Praktiken des Umgangs mit kunsthistorischer Materialität von Sakralraumtransformationen im Raum Aachen und Leipzig, die seit 1990 auszumachen sind. Eine Schwerpunktsetzung liegt hier auf der Untersuchung von Nachkriegskirchen und ihrer Sonderstellung als besonders in Transformationsprozessen involvierte Bautengruppe.
Als Gesamtergebnis werden drei Ziele angestrebt:
1) die Aufstellung einer vergleichenden Systematik zu Transformationsmodellen bei Nachkriegskirchen in Ost- und Westdeutschland,
2) das Herausarbeiten des Stellenwerts kunsthistorischer Materialität (Materialwert, Erinnerungswert) und der Rolle der Denkmalpflege bei den (Werte-)Diskursen um Sakralraumtransformationen,
3) die Analyse von historischen („Ausstattung“) und zeitgenössischen („Intervention“) künstlerischen Transformationen im Kirchenraum als sakral-hybrides und transkulturell-partizipatorisches Rezeptionsmodell (Resonanz-/Erlebnis-Raum).

Art and Architectural Historical Processes of the Transformation of Sacred Space in the Areas of Aachen and Leipzig
The research approach of subproject 3 is concerned with the investigation of practices of engaging with the art-historical materiality of the transformation of sacred spaces in the Aachen and Leipzig areas since 1990. One focus is on the study of post-war churches and their distinct position as a group of buildings particularly involved in transformation processes.
The overall aim is to achieve three goals:
1) the establishment of a comparative systematic approach to transformation models for post-war churches in East and West Germany,
2) working out the significance of art-historical materiality (material value, commemorative value) and the role of monument preservation in the (value) discourses on the transformation of sacred space,
3) the analysis of historical (" furnishings") and contemporary ("intervention") artistic transformations in the church space as a sacral-hybrid and transcultural-participatory model of reception (resonance/experiential space.
